Havn't posted in a while due to being very busy with uni and band etc.
Recently cranked up my distances on the bike a bit. I'd gotten a bike lazy towards the end of the Summer and put a couple of pounds on too, lol.
So lately I've been doing a lot more mileage....yesterday I did 78 miles. My longest ever ride. I was in the saddle 4hr 45minutes with only about a five minute Lucozade and Mars bar break and averaged 16.5mph. I went from my place in Epping (north east of London) all the way upto Saffron Walden via Great Dunmow then back via Elsenham and Takeley.
It was a beautiful day and my legs were good up until about 60 miles, then it got tough. For anyone that doesn't think Essex is hilly, think again. All in all, it was a wicked ride. Next weekend I'm going for 100 miles.

Bloody hell Loobster, 16.5mph on a 78 mile ride when you've been cutting back on riding.I wish I could do go that fast now and I'm at my peak of physical excellence. You sure it's just lucozade your on?0

Definitely. I was pretty shocked how well I held up. And well, just Lucozade, I think. Unless the co-op I stopped at spiked it.
That being said on Wednesday I did 38 miles and last Saturday about 25...so it wasn't after doing nothing for months at all...
There was a period for about 5 or 6 miles where I was going uphill at about 22mph, tail wind of course, but it was nice to be going uphill with that speed on the computer.0 -
fair play! love the route btw, looks imense.
Can't wait till I can go that distance, in time over the winter lol0 -
Yeah, it's getting really nice at the moment weather wise for longer rides, IMO.
You can go on long trips and not get really sweaty, nor too cold.0
