Im going to ask the immortal question which im sure many are thinking!!
Which winter tyres!! ive read this months what mtb, and they recommend bonty muds, but ive heard from other bikers they are not up to scratch.
Popped to my LBS and they did me a deal on some continental verticals, not a winter tyre but a good all-rounder to replace my bonty jones.
So what you all use?? what do you recommend front and rear?? the bulk of my riding will be cannock chase and wyre forest if that helps!! if the odd welsh centre

Yep ive read that too, doesnt really clear things up!! most of them get 8 or 9 same as the mag!!
The only reason i ask is because i didnt ride last year in the winter due to injury so was after some personal input from other bikers0 -
Panaracer Trailrakers have a very good rep for the wet and slimey britsh winters, Merlin also have a deal on Fire XC Pro tires, they're not as good in the sticky stuff as the Trailrakers but £40 for a pair of the kevlar bead versions with tubes aswell is a cracking deal that mite be worth a look.0

I have panaracer trailrakers on my hard tail and the Bonty Mud X on my full suss.
Both are excellent in winter mud with the bonty's having the added advantage of being tubeless ready.
Shop about and you'll find them both for £40 a pair.0 -
I use Schwalbe Nobby Nics front and rear in the winter. They get me through all but the gloopiest stuff.
In Hertfordshire the trails are stilll reasonable firm,so I've still got a Racing Ralph on the back,at the moment.2006 Giant XTC
