Anyone else with a spec allez (elite) who doesn't know - you can take the stem off and remove the shim inside it and turn it upside down for a more down angled position. having had the bike since March I've only found this out by reading the review of Spec Roubaix Elite in this months Cycling Plus. I've spent a fair amount of time moving the saddle back and forwards to try and get a more laid out position. If only I'd known ar*e!!!

Take it out and turn it upside down to get a different angle. it's designed that way. If I hadn't read the review of a bike I'll never buy I wouldn't have known as I wouldn't have taken the stem off in the near future............

You have to take the shim out so that you can turn the shim upside down so that you can put the shim back into the stem the other way up. The shim doesn't sit flat. The top and bottom surfaces are angled and on the spec thay have a different angle on the top from the bottom so that you can turn the shim over for a different stem angle. I think other stems you would need to take the handlebars off and turn the stem over to achieve this which is why I was confused by your question as to why I took the shim out........

I have an Allez Comp and I only found this out this year. There are actually 2 positions for the stem itself and 2 for the shim making 4 in all. I found this out when I has to take the whole front apart to fit new headset bearings. I did remember the blurb saying that the stem was 4 position adjustable but could never fingue out how. I guess that place on hte Kripton Factor is out them :?
I have only two things to say to that; Bo***cks

Yes that's right, the 4 positions are +16, +8, -8 and -16 degrees. Clever stem.
