The cycle Show, Earld Court! New Dilemma

Hi all,
Still looking for a decent hardtail about £1000 - £1500.
I thought I had it nailed with an orange P7. However, having just been to see bikes at the cycle show earls court a few others caught my attentions.
Specifically the:
Scott Scale 30 (£1500) It looks gorgeous has a good spec. Should I be put off by the carbon frame? Will be break easily?
Focus, again the Killer Bee, and Raven Expert (again Carbon) look good with great value
Diamond back had some good bikes as well
As the Orange P7 with a few upgrades comes in at around £1600, I wonder if this is a little expensive compared to what you get with the other brands.
Any experiences with these brands? (Scott, focus, diamondback) Any reviews or comments welcome.
Thanks
Joe

What do you want the bike for. I'd say the Scale was a race bike and the P7 a trail bike."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0

Hi Splasher!
Living in London its going to be trail riding alog the river, going in the country whenever time permits.
I wont be race riding at all!
I have test ridden the P7 and loved it!0 -
Don't get me wrong, the Scale can be ridden on trails, but it's a more head down, arse up, short fork kind of bike. The P7s more "out for a laugh" riser bar kind of bike.
