loose crank

will loc tite sort out my loose cranks?

  • You won't ever get them off again. Do you mean thread lock? ... Wouldn't try that either. Just uber tighten them and keep them properly torqued.

    what is the interface? is it worn?

  • they always become loose even 30 seconds after i have tightened them up

    We need to know what cranks and axle type/fitting.

    It's not RaceFace ISIS cranks by any chance is it ?

    I had the left hand side crank actually fall off once offroad which was a bit wierd to say the least, and cut the bike ride short because I couldn't find the crank bolt on the rocky bridleway.

    The advice is correct though, get a long handle 8mm allen key from your LBS and torque down those bolts.

  • My crank (drive side) used to work its way off over time. It never actually fell off but came loose, so i had to keep tightening it. They are average truvativ cranks (cant remember which ones).

    I eventually sorted it by taking it to my LBS, where they tightened it using a long handled allen key. Ive never had the problem again :)

    Also, thread lock doesnt do a thing. I tried that :wink:
