I was looking at my rear wheel today and something doesn't look right, the rim sits over to the left a tad, i done that string method for checking the frame plus i do not believe my frame has any damage as i have not had a crash. I also checked the wheel in another frame and same thing.

I measured from the chainstay to the rim and the left side has a 22mm gap and the right has a 26mm gap, on the other frame the left has a 19mm gap and the right a 23mm gap.

Heres too pics but its not easy to tell in them, dont think i got the angle of the pic correct...

Example 1
Example 2

Could my wheel be out of alignment (out of dish, thinks thats the correct word.)

  • The old frame i tested in was a carrera(dont know what model, old one though) and mine that i use is a DDG shooter (blue colour). The wheel was built long time back, its a mavic d521 on a deore hub.

on those frames the wheel should be dished. have the wheel checked and if it is ok then the frames could be out. More likely to be the wheel needing attention.

Check that the dishing tool is dished properly though ;-)
