Just watching the news about the guy who got originally implicated in McCann thing.

I read both tabloids and broadsheets, and if I'm honest, he came across like a criminal in both of them, because that is the spin

Watching him on TV now I didn't half feel sorry for him. That must be one of the worst things imaginable being accused of something like that to the extent that a decent sensitive person like me felt some sort of disdain towards him, if not at all suspecting him

I did hear on the news that he could be looking at a large 6 figure sum in compensation, which should help soften the blow (a bit). Although that doesn't take away all the sh_it he's had to go through. No doubt he will be viewed with some suspicion by some of the people for the rest of his life. the "mud sticks" and "there's no smoke without fire" brigade!

He was 35(ish), still living with his mum, was a computer 'expert' and had a dodgy eye. For the press he was the perfect villain! Get the witch-hunt going!!!

If I understand it correctly he was reported to the police by a Sunday Mirror journalist who was suspicious of him for the simple reason that he didn't want to be interviewed on TV.

I think that the journalists were so keen not to look stupid after the Ian Huntley thing (the murderer being interviewed by Sky) that they didn't want to be in the same situation again.

Having said that, they may have been taken for the biggest ride ever !!!
