Centerlock rotors

Can the Shimano Centerlock rotors be used with other non Shimano brakes? The reason I'm asking is the Centerlock system is better than 6 bolts but it seems to be limited to Shimano brakes.
Another related question: Can 6 bolts rotors be used with Shimano XT hubs?

yes they can be used but there could be pad overlap onto the disc "spokes"

you can get adaptors that allow a 6 bolt disc to be used with centerlock hubs.

I've got a dilemma now: I'm upgrading my brakes to Formula Oro. I'm replacing the hubs as well. Should I get Centre Lock hubs and an adapter for 6 bolts or 6 bolts hubs or take the risk and use shimano rotors and hope it will work?
The adapter option might seem daft but I would prefer it for easy removal of the rotors. Is it worth doing it?

You can find a pic of Rockwerks centerlock adaptors here, but I'd guess you'd have to buy them online from the US
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Shimano themselves do an adapter which is neat.

Having said that, Formula brakes seem to have quite shallow pads (like Hope) so I would think they'd be OK with Shimano discs and it would be arguably a neater solution.

    Thanks for the opinions.
I'm quite OK abut the adaptors - the DT ones are the best I think, but what about the whole idea of using Centre lock with adaptors rather than 6 bolts? In term of weight, it's actually a bit lighter having centre lock and adaptors than 6 bolts hubs. Am I missing something?

well what do you realy want? the lightest set up?

well that would be the Ti braking serface on a carbon carrier. 6 bolt only iirc. on a tune hub....

Weight doesn't bother me. I'm just asking if anybody knows about any drawbacks of getting Centre Lock hubs and adaptors rather than the more obvious 6 bolts hubs option. I only mentioned weight to point out this is not a drawback
