We've ordered two bikes from them in the past and service has been very helpful.

  • I don'nt know how they do it but J E James is the only bike shop I have ever been to that treats you as if they are doung you a favour when they do any work on your bike. About a year ago my Marin went in for a bottom bracket when I got home I realised that one of the bolts that hold on the left hand crank was missing. Upon closer inspection I could see that the threads on the crank arm had been stripped. I took the bike back and the "mechanic" said that it was like that when the bike came in, it was'nt,the manager said that he had to side with his staff but he would provide a left hand crank at cost, he said he would call me when one came into stock, he never called.
I ride in group of six or seven riders all agree that J E James are a pain in the arse.
My advice buy mail order and learn to fix your own bike it really is'nt that difficult, as for suspension send them to a specialist for service and repair.
  • If you are a roadie then you get first class service. Mountain bikers take second place (at least in the Chestefield shop).
