So, anyone got it?

Any good?

I'm planning to download tonight. Probably pay £1.50 - that must be about equivalent to the royalty they'd get from an album bought over the counter.

Its a curious idea that whole "Pay what you want" thing. Reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Homer laughs himself silly because the entry to the museum is voluntary donation!

Anyway, I won't be paying anything because I think their recent stuff has been sht.

Yeah, I'm not too sure about the pay what you like thing. On the one hand it's good for tight-fisted or hard-up fans to get an official release without feeling like a pirate. On the other, Radiohead can afford to give it away but plenty of others can't. There's a faint whiff of arrogance about it.

The BBC review (which slates the album) also makes a good point about the potential lack of funding to support new bands if this way of selling does catch on.

Anyway, at least they're trying something a bit different and it's got people talking about how much a musician's work is really worth.

So, are you paying nothing but still downloading it or just ignoring?

I think the last three albums are their best work btw - and they've got better each time!!!

Nah. I won't be going near it. My way of telling if an album is any good or not is if I want to listen to it all the way through (give or take a track) more than a couple of times. Amnesiac and Kid A I found to have good moments but too much rubbish. I think theres hundreds of artists doing that kind of stuff so much better so I'll stick with them.
