Hi,

I'm new to these bolt axles and I can't figure out how to get the front wheel off. I have slighlty rounded some of the hex heads by trying to loosen everything, so could anyone tell me the process of what to do. It's a 888VF fork.

Cheers

is their 2 black caps at either end? all you do is get a allen key and take them off, then you should be able to push the axle through and out..it might be quits hard to get out but it will come out..i sometimes use the end od a file and tap it a little

    dont forget the pinch bolts.

and go to marz's webby and read/download the manual if you dont have it.

    forgot that
  • Thanks,

So do you have to undo the pinch bolts first?

One of the black cups unscrews but the other one doesn't seem to want to?

well if you dont undo the pinch bolts the fork will still be pinching the axel.

the removable end cap may be on on one side or the other. part undo it and then push it back in that will get the axel started.

as i said befor read the manual as it is all there.

  • I'm not sure which bit to knock, I have one cap off and all loosened pinch bolts, I can't undo the other cap because the whole hub just spins when I turn it. I think I can see the axle inside when looking where the cap has come off, but how do you push/pull it out?

Edit: Thanks Nick I didn't realise only one side unscrewed.

I have the manual but it only shows how to attach a wheel, not how to take it off.

    Cheers
  • Thanks for the advice, I now have it off!
