yellow jerseys on ebay

As you might be aware Harribo had 1000 official nike yellow jerseys to give away durring the Tour de France. Although I registered I was obviously to late and missed out. My mate got his the other day and whilst both of us admited that you might not want to wear it on it's own (same reasons as for not wearing world champ replica stuff) it does come in handy as a training top to wear under something else.
Unsuprsingly there is now a large ammount of these on ebay. The majority being advertised as BNWT and in bag. Lots of them being offered as buy it now for £20. Now maybe I'm a bit niave (sp?) but it might have been nice if some people had of thought 'actually I don't want one so will let someone else have one' rather than 'brilliant I can make some money on ebay with this off the back of Harribo's good will'
Just my thoughts anyway.

I registered too, but like you was obviously not quick enough off the mark. Sad to see freebies like this appearing on eBay.
An order arrived for me from Wiggle the other day (save your boos and hisses, please) and there was a little packet of Harribo sweets inside. The jellies were in the shape of cars, which was a little perverse, but they were some tasty sweeties and well received0 -
Yep I've had some sweeties off wiggle to and they were much appreciatedCycling - The pastime of spending large sums of money you don't really have on something you don't really need.0

Too late to investigate the ones I received - they are long gone, and digested.0 -
robbie the roadie - wonder what percentage of people who applied for Led Zeppelin tickets actually have any intention of going?
These days it seems people will do anything that involves little or no effort but might make them a quick couple of quid. There is no secret ingredient...0 -
God, don't get me started on ebay ticket touts! There is nothing worse than spending all morning in front of a crashing ticket web-site only to find that ebay is full with the tickets you've been trying to buy, and at vastly over-inflated amounts. All bought by people who think it's ok to stiff everyone else in order to make a few quid!

It's simple economics. Limited supply & high demand = raised pricesroad0 -
That's true. Doesn't mean I have to like it though... Harrumph, harrumph etc...

I understand that there will be some genuine sellers in every case for whom the jersey was to big/small, or they now can't go to see the ledzep gig but in cases of freebies or charity (princess Di concert tickets that were all removed from ebay) it just seems a but unfair to put quite a high buy it now price on something you got for free.Cycling - The pastime of spending large sums of money you don't really have on something you don't really need.0 -

Well, unfortunately ebay has given people a platform to make money from virtually anything so people will use it. Shame really as it seems a bit selfish to win a prize then flog it straight away for £20. Some bad Karma will be floating around those sellers now!0

Seems liek straightforward entreprenuerism to me. I have something I don't want, someone else I have never met wants it, oh I should give it to them for free? Good luck.road0 -

That's not really the point of this thread though is it. There's a big difference between having a bit of a clear out and making a few quid to dilliberately getting something you don't want or need for free with the purpose of selling it on at a later date.Cycling - The pastime of spending large sums of money you don't really have on something you don't really need.0 -
Maybe it is straight forward entrepreneurism...but so is the arms trade, doesn't make it right!0
