OK I dont know if this is the right place to ask but thought it would be better here than in the kids section.
My 7 year old has a 16" wheel kids bike which he uses a lot down the local skate park. Hes too big for it now but then BMXs are smaller anyway. He can do some nice jumps but lacks the strength and skill at the moment to do manuals, bunny hops etc.
GT and Mongoose do some really nice 16" wheeled BMXs with a longer wheel base, but ive noticed they bill these as for 6 to 8 year olds. As they are over £150 i dont want to get one if its only going to last a year.
The other day he borrowed a 20" wheel jump bike and pulled off some much bigger jumps with the bigger wheels, extra length and suspension for a comfy landing. So its tempting to go for that type of bike but he does do most of his riding in the skate park where a bmx is more at home.
So wondering if anyone with bmx experience can give me there view of sizing and type of bike to go for.

have a look for a park bike or jump bike it will be just as good as a bmx..
sounds like he is more confident on a 20" wheel, have you asked him what size he wants etc..

best thing to do would be just go to your lbs and test a few and see what feels right!0
