We are off as a family to visit Cycle 2007 at Earl's Court on Sunday - any other forumites plaining to go over the weekend, and what are you looking forward to, in addition to the chance to add content to the 'Girls in Lycra Shorts' thread?

Also - for anyone going there before we arrive on Sunday, anything really worth seeing / avoiding / blagging / queuing for etc?

Hope to see you there!

I'm going tomorrow with the OH and boy, but like baguley I've had an expensive month (I knew there was a reason why I should've paid the car insurance monthly instead of in one whack!), so I doubt I'll be spending much.

DOMT - what are the details of the duathlon? I've seen it advertised but not seen any distances anywhere. I'd have had a go at that if I hadn't torn my ankle ligaments recently.

Hammerite - you're right the details for this years race is nowhere to be found, but last years details are still up - 6Km bike / 2Km run.

Just got back, had a fantastic day, retro styling on bikes everywhere especially the Condor stand. Single speeds everywhere.I had a test ride on the Pearson single speed, quite nice if you live in a town;I don't.

I found the retail section dissapointing so don't expect any big bargains there. Bought a montane pertex jacket for £40 folds up tiny.

Freebee's, the staff on cube are great got a free coffee and a good laugh.

BMC got a free water bottle, but the staff are like ice.

Don't buy lunch go to the TORQ stand a fill up with energy bar samples and energy drink.
Mind you I did take advantage of the show discount and bought some energy bars as well.

BUFF are a great product bought two buffs and got a couple of quid knocked off.
Sturmy Archer have got some great free retro posters for the workshop wall.
Plus I overheard a real nerd chatting to the rep, really funny, stood there for ages earwigging.Poor old rep could not get away.

Specialised stand is good one of the guys (I think he is malaysian) is the mechanic for the works team, I could have chatted to him all day.I expect someone overheard me and thought I was Sturmey Archer Nerd. :o

How did you get on with the Duathlon DomT?

I watched it for a bit, one of the guys in the race I saw got the second fastest time of the event (up to that point), and another who was about 90s behind got the 4th fastest. Impressive thing about the person who was 4th fastest was that they were only 14!!

We had an ok time at the show, probably not the shows fault but our little one gave us no opportunity to actually look at anything in detail! We were either worried about losing him in the crowds, or worried that he was touching everything he saw!! (I had visions of bikes being pulled off displays and all sorts!!)

That Duathlon nearly killed me... never again!!!... Took me just over 17min, was second at the time, but I guess I'm about 20th now!

That TORQ stand was great, tried everything, and walked away with enough gels to last me two months!

The only thing I regret was not having the time to test ride a few machines, esp. a fixie - never been on one before, so missed out there :(

well done mate, was it 6k/2k? There was a lot of hot people (as in sweating a lot, not gorgeous!) doing the duathlon. I reckon I'd have lost about a stone!! There was one girl doing it in denim shorts! Nutter.

I know what you mean about the TORQ stand, and all the others. I reckon it's the grabbing of samples that turned our little one loopy. I kept telling him not to eat them
