I am struggling to pick my fave at the moment.

It was always Takeshi's but Ninja Warrior does have Stuart Hall...

I've never seen Ninja Warrior so voted for T C. What's your favourite event?
    I like the stepping stones.

Not seen Ninja Warrior (and frankly I have enough exposure to Stuart "Rambling Rose" Hall on Saturday's football report on 5Live) but my 12-y-o lad loves Takeshi - has anyone ever made it past the arbitrary laser shoot-out on wheels at the end - I've never seen anyone get past it?

He also likes Viking - something about seeing small Japanese children getting dunked in freezing cold water that tickles his sense of humour - some of the dads are amazingly fit though.

Sadly, I haven't seen either

What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!

aw, it's funny. On some challenge TV like channel on sky. However, I also love you've been framed so perhaps you should take my recommendations with a pinch of salt.
  • Haven't seen Ninja Warrior but loved Takeshi's Castle when I was a student. The land that health and safety forgot   :D

stepping stones is ace. however, should be renamed 'stepping-rib-breaking-stones'.

love the avalanche game as well.

    The Ultimate Shin Shredder
  • I would vote for TC, but haven't seen NW; on what channel can one do so? Favourite TC event is the one where they run across rollers, usually looks painful, but then 'comedy is tragedy happening to someone else'!

BTW, if you like bizarre Japanese TV shows, try this:

don't worry, it's not as dodgy as it sounds! Although I can't see a British version airing anytime soon...

We watch both in this house (the little one loves them). I like Takeshis Castle as it is so stupid, where as you actually have some respect for the athletic ability of the guys on Ninja Warrior. Plus Ninja Warrior is actually up to date so you aren't subjected to as many crap shell suits as you are in Takeshis Castle!!

My favourite event is the one where they have to run through doors and guess which one they can break. I'm sure some of them must've broken shoulders doing that one!

Captain Kirk does manage it quite well! Does he NOT.

I was flicking through the other day and saw that but just carried on flicking. I take it it is worth watching then?

Most of the TCs feature useless university students, but there was a great one once where they had parents & kids. Plenty of typical Japanese mums, like overprotective mother-hens, and workaholic office-worker fathers being humiliated in front of their kids (and their kids peers watching on TV no doubt).
  • Who is your favourite member of the "Emerald Guard"?

Mine is Animal or the guy on Blueberry Hill.

Or do I have too much knowledge/sad genes?
