I have a blackburn delphi 4.0 which im very happy with. But im getting a second bike, so my question is should i buy new mounts so i can have it all on both bikes. This will cost £25 or is there another computer i can buy for the same money or less than has the same level of functionality?
Large screen and cadence are my two needs

Blimey, isn't that a rather good price for one with a cadence function as well??
AP - how do you find it, is it reliable, and how does it work?
I know you have a sensor on the wheel, and a transmitter on the fork, so does the cadence work in the same way??
Do you place a magnet on a crank arm, and a transmitter on a tube somewhere??
If you had the choise between Heart rate and cadecne, which would you choose?
Cheers

its exactly what i already use and thinking about it, i havent ever had a better cycle computer.
you have a wireless transmitter on the fork like a standard cycle computer, but out the back of the handlebar mount is a cable that runs down to a rear chainstay which has a sensor attached to it, this reads the cadence as you put a magnet on the crank.
I would choose cadence, you can tell when your heart is working hard enough and i dont personally find it that useful reading my heart rate monitor (ive got a cheap one which i can also mount on my handlebars) but i find knowing how quickly my legs are rotating very useful, it lets me know when to change gear, when i should be pedalling quicker and is generally a useful tool.BMC TM01 - FCN 0

Cheers SP,
shame they can't make the cadence wireless as well.....
Do you just cable tie the lead down the downtube then?
Can you set the wheel size manually - I notice it says it has '11 pre-programmed wheel sizes'
EDIT: Have just noticed that CRC do it for the same price and free postage - not sure if Parkers do free P&P or not.

Dan
yeah you can do manual wheel sizing they just have some presets that are easy to select if you've got a pre-set wheel size
RichA - nice idea but explain whats the point in having HRM if you arent going to upload the stats to your computer after?BMC TM01 - FCN 0

I write down my stats after each ride. My HR gives me an indication of fitness/exhertion.
Primarily I use it, along with percieved effort, to help me monitor my exhertion whilst I'm riding. Particularly useful in long/hilly rides. e.g. It helps me make sure that in the early parts of sportives I do not overcook it.Rich0 -

would you say it is worth the extra £40 though? When something similar albeit not part of the cycle computer can be bought from a sports store for £25?BMC TM01 - FCN 0

Ive got a cheap LIDL computer on my road bike at the moment, I think I'll get a new one and the Delphi caught my eye. Could a Delphi mount on flat profile aero bars or is it just for rounded bars?

I always like to have HR available to view. And I don't really want to have both a bike computer and a cheap HR watch on my handle bars. Especially as the difference between £25 & £40 is only £15.
Finally, please note that a lot of the cheaper HR watches are only able to display the current HR, they cannot be used to check average & max HR after a ride.Rich0 -

Ha - me too!
Is that the wireless one with HRM?
I've only just fitted mine to my roadbike, and it's been superb, but if I did go for the one with the cadence sensor, I would move the LIDL one onto my mountain bike.
