I was watching the 99 Giro last night and there was a stage where Petacchi was away in a break with Di Luca. At the time he was "not a very fast finisher" heh. And Di Luca looked so so young.

I'm only up to watching the first big mountain stage so I expect some more corkers before long.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

It's amazing how cyclists age quickly. Look at Bettini in the 2001 TdF, seems he didn't always look like a 70-year old school caretaker. I believe it's because the huge amountsa of carbs they imbibe dries out the skin faster.
You just have to ride like you never have to breathe again.

Or perhaps since some pros are riding 30,000+ km a year they are spending too much time in the sun?

You will find stage 15 amusing. I sometimes ponder whether the stage winner actually set it up as a piece of sheer exhibitionism.

That was before he became an asthmatic.

    hehe.

Does the same apply to Wiggins and his pursuit golds?

  • Iain, I thought we'd been over this one already - Bradley Wiggins is British, under 30 and (now) riding for T-Mobile. So he can't possibly be cheating in any way!! Now, if he was Spanish.............
