I just got out my two pairs of biblongs and patched the holes on the knees, though it's not quite cold enough to wear them yet. Oops, too much falling off my skates last winter.

Weather is very weird at the moment, been really cold in the mornings so I'm wearing winter gloves, 3/4 tights, overshoes, winter top etc... But then come 5pm the sun is shining and I'm totally overdressed..... Don't you just love the British weather....

its stopped down saffff as well, might be able to go straight to the gym :D happy days!
  • When I'm sitting around doing nothing I really feel the cold, but compared to my fellow commuters I must overheat very easily - they are mostly wrapped up against the cold, whereas at the weekend I was still in my 3/4 length combats with a sleeveless dri-fit top (I got in trouble when my nan saw me without a coat though, but I thought it was quite warm at the weekend).

I just get really warm, I look at the others all bundled up in jackets etc and don't know how they do it - the warmest thing I've needed so far is a long sleeved wicking running top in the early mornings, and a showerproof jacket if it's tipping it down.

My fingers start off cold in their summer mitts but even they warm up after about 15 mins...

Yesterday was a happy change from the norm. The only time I got wet was when popping out for a sandwich a lunch. Bone dry each way on the commute. Must have done something good in a previous life.
  • As I'm only in my 4th week of commuting, I haven't been through a winter yet. Don't know about anyone else on here, but I warm up really quickly. I play football in sub zero temperatures and still just wear a shirt and shorts for that as I get warm within 5 minutes of running.

The worst I expect will be the windchill factor on your face and hands (as they aren't doing much work), but I expect that the rest of me will be warm enough. Here's hoping anyway!!!
  • Windchill can get you in some "odd" places

It's that strange time of the year. At the moment I'm coming in wearing winter kit and going home in summer stuff.

I've just come back from a week in the Lot region of France, where it's still shorts weather in the afternoons... :(

It's just a hill. Get over it.

it was cold this morning which is why i chose to go along the north circular. NOTHING and i mean NOTHING gets the heart, body and mind warm than going down a triple carriageway!
  • The north circular, that road was 'orrible enough when I used to do it in the car!

Typical that it was foggy this morning, considering my rear light fell off yesterday evening and came to a crunchy end under the wheel of a taxi...

It was about the same here 7C and misty.

My new Dinotte 200L got me all kinds of respect and room in the mist this morning, I reckon it stood out better than car headlights (with the exception of those with fog lights).

I have noticed that the number of people commuting on bikes has dwindled away to nothing again. (Use your best David Attenborough voice for this bit). "...And so the fairweather cyclists go into hibernation, come next May they'll all be out again, clad in far too many layers, wobbling in and out of traffic while moving at a sedate 7.5 miles an hour, their faces purple with exertion..."

Yeah, it's sad and pleasing all at the same time!

Although the more people cycling the better and it makes the roads safer, I can't help feeling a little relieved that some of the worst wobblers are gone! They're a menace, worse than cars sometimes.

i was chatting to my mate last night who used to commute to central london on his bike, and i said to him are you not thinking about cycling in at any time soon. His reply was, not a chance i only cycle in the summer.

I was rather disappointed in him as he likes to stay fit

and this morning i could see my breath as i cycled :D must invest in something long sleeved though as my arms were rather cold until i warmed up!

    That's me, that is

I wear lots of layers 'cos I don't go far (2 miles and 3 miles) and am always having to stop at the lights. And I can't change at work so I wear normal clothes.

 just because I'm not some lycra'd muscle-bound hero on 1mm section tyres everyone hates me boo hoo hoo (etc.)

It's just a hill. Get over it.
  • My nice new Aldi Jacket got it's first outing this morning, and very good it was too. Kept the damp and wind out, me nice and warm.
