hi

Problem of not having lights on a bicycle at night E.G. a copper nicking you for no lights this is a small device that can be fitted to a bicycle with a dynamo on it

The A/C Voltage of the dynamo will have to be changed to D/C with diodes in a bridge,
then you use just 2 in 4001 diod on simple forward bais to do what we want, what do you think on this

thanks

I think it's fantastic. Just a couple of points though:

what are you talking about, which device?

    aren't dynamos DC anyway?

I already have a device that fits to a dynamo and prevents coppers nicking me, it doesn't use 4001 diodes in a forward bias though, it uses a lamp in a red plastic housing ;)

No dynamos are AC, but a simple recitifier will convert to DC. Sounds like a great project.

I'm still missing the point, what is the objective? Is it to get lights fitted to a bike that already has a dynamo? Surely this has already been done  even using LEDs.

    http://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;p ... 290d8e87ae for £10 it even comes with a stand-light for when the dynamo's not turning.

As I said above I'm probably missing the point

I got the impression it's just a project to try out. For night time I would normally carry a small maglight that I can 'tape' to the bike if lights fail - just to get home though would be no use for riding trails, but there again, nor would a dynamo set up I expect :?
