Commute route Bromley to Putney?

Anyone know any good routes/short cuts for a route from Bromley (Shortlands) to Putney (mainline station end). Currently I use either:
Both starting with Beckenham -> Penge -> Crystal Palace Hill
1. Down through Dulwich, on to the South Circular and follow it all the way through Clapham and Wandsworth.
2. Through Crystal Palace to Streaham, Tooting, back of Wandsworth and on to the S. Circular at Wandsworth for the last mile or 2.
Fine routes (apart from the nasty hills at Crystal Palace and Streatham!) and fairly direct, but rather busy as they are main commuting routes for car drivers (had my fair share of being cut up by right turning cars and lorries passing a couple of inches from my head this morning). Any hints on better routes, cut throughs to avoid some of the worst spots greatly appreciated
Thanks.

Those are probably the routes I would take too. Busy equals quick travel, even by bike usually. I'm currently in Bromley, but moving further out to Biggin Hill soon.0

I can't think of a better route that I'd take, The traffic is heavy during commuting times whichever way you choose to go! You'll do it quicker than the cars, mind!getting there......0
