Genesis Flyer botton bracket clunking

Hi BikeRadar
Just purchased a new Genesis Flyer and having great fun on it. However there is an annoying clunking sound from the botton bracket when the pedals are turning, especially obvious when the pedals are under more pressure eg going uphill. When you stop pedalling (assume I've got it set up on freewheel) the sound stops?
Anyone has similar probs, especially with a single speed?
A few trips to a number of bike shops have said 'I had one of those and it drove me nuts- it's the ballbearing jamming against one another when you put the power on...' No cures as yet though.

Mine does exactly the same. It does it less when you run the chain a bit tighter so I assumed it was down to chain tension. There's definitely a tight point on the chain for me - Sheldon reckons it's something to do with cheap chainrings not being truly circular (or something like that). I tried to re-centre the chainring and it's a little better. Only ridden it fixed once and not enough to notice the problem but I'm afraid that's not very conclusive.0
