Marzocchi XC 600 SL Retro - Lockout (TST2) issue

Hi,
The TST2 dial does not seem to be operating correctly on my forks - I've only had the bike about 6 weeks. I was getting ready to go out on saturday, and noticed that the forks had very little travel - I locked out the forks to see if this made a difference, and it didn't - the travel was exactly the same. I checked all the pressures etc and these are fine - now, the only way I've found to get them working is by pressing down on the dial as I turn it, and turning it slowly - could this be just a case of the dial not catching the valve (is that right) - or could it be something else - hope that makes sense. I've rung the shop I bought it from, and they have said they'll send me a replacement dial/cap - so I'll try that - but any other ideas would be greatly appreciated
