Hello everyone. I'm going to be buying a GT Avalanche 2.0 in about 1-2 months. But I heard the original forks are not too good.. I'm thinking of buying some Marzocchi bomber Z1 or are the original forks better?
Also what's the price at the minute for the Z1's. My friend reccomended them.

or could you reccomend me a pair of marzocchi bombers that would go well with the GT Avalanche. I like to do abit of DH and jumping but not serious just messing around and just biking around everywhere really on long journeys.
I am looking to spend around £100

ok so you are going to spend more money on a 6 year old fork when you buy a new bike.

also you will be increasing the travel buy 30mm which is a bit much for an XC bike.

i would not bother. use what you get and when it needs replacing replace it with something current.

Also check if you will need a new hub or not as these cane witha 20mm front axel option as well as the standard Qr setup.

Ok thank you for your quick replies :P. BTW hat does XC mean? And are the original forks on the Avalanche decent, and what forks are they?

XC = cross country, definitely not DH or jumping: this bike is not designed to do that.

The fork is a Suntour XCR LO: for the money, a good performer.

Ok , thanks for the info. Do you think the bike would last me a while if I road everywhere on it just on normal rounds because I am 16 and I bike from Leicester to Nottingham or Leicester to Birmingham etc. around the midlands. I do not do serious jumping on it or downhill just a little bit. The avalanche feels nice to ride and I want one.

Its a good bike for trails and XC, and can take a bit of rough stuff. Just be careful: and keep it well serviced!

Ok , i'll make sure :P. One last question do you think I need to change the tyres or anything else for the things I do like biking 20+ miles a day

If biking on hard surfaces and Tarmac, yes, think about a semi slick, or for full tarmac, a full slick tyre. Just change back for off roading.
