new mech

my rear mech seems to be past its use by date so im replacing it.... i have a brand new shimano ALIVIO 8 speed mech that i bought ages ago but i only have a 7 speed shifter... if i put the 8 speed mech on would it work??

Yep, no probs. As long as the fitting bolt is the same.

Once put a deore (8 speed) onto my apollo fs/26 (7 speed) and it worked far slicker than the tourneys that were bent out of shape
