Well peeps, whether I get my bike back or not i'm wanting a FS bike for mainly DH use.
I've had a go today on a Felt Virtue 3 and i thought it was brilliant.
Now there selling the bike off second £999, for £1k is there a better FS bike?

The gears a smooth and great, Deore LX for both derailors and crank!!!
Rock shock forks and a nice rear shock with lock out when going up hill (not often!!!)

Any opinions are welcome, please help me out.

£1k only peeps!!!

The Virtue isnt a Dh bike though! Its more of an All Mountain bike, with short/medium travel. If you want a full bore DH bike, look elsewhere.

I didn't know the virtue isn't a dh bike, it did it bloody good though!!!!
Saying that, i don't do any freeriding at any time, doesn't interest me either, just rough DH and rough XC!!!!!!

I suppose we have to define DH: to many its just riding dow hills, maybe with some rough stuff, but the sport as a discpiline often uses 8 inch or more travel bikes and forks, weighing 40lbs up for terrain with big drop offs and jumps, often several metres in size! Something a bit like this:

    GT_DHI_RACEm

I guess you fall into the former category, and if you like the bike for the terrain you ride, go for it.

I don't do big drop off or big jumps in meters but I do go over very rough tourain, in essence cross country, no??

You went to Greno? Can see the wood from the windows here, 5 min ride! Its pretty intense in places - and of course just accross the road at the top is Wharny.

Well I don't knowif there a few car parks but we went in to it and parked up, parking spaces are marked out with boulders.
Anyway I had a right laugh and yes it does go extreme in places BUT I didn't jump or free ride at all,
now you know what i'm into, any suggestions on the bike front!!

Most full sussers at 1k tend to be more XC oriented.

GT Idrive XCR at Halfords worth a look, burly frame and parts and great suss action. Good allrounder for the downs and ups. However the Felt is a good bike for that money, and should handle that sort of riding you describe. I think you need 5inch of travel or so either side, or 6.

    Saracen Aireal too.
