Completely clobbered by a car

Cycling home from work on 26/9/07, got hit by a car (it was turning right across/in front of me). My lovely new Tricross Comp got split in two (see pic below) and I ended up with a broken femur and severed quadricep tendons. It's gonna be at least 6 months off the road I would have thought but I am determined to be back at the first opportunity.
Positives are:
1. I'm alive (NHS didn't kill me either).
2. Bell Ghisallo helmet has numerous cracks through it but my skull has none.
3. CTC and their lawyers have been great. Join them if you already haven't.

Nothing a bit of gaffa tape won't fix, (both your leg and the bike)
Seriously.
Respect.

Ouch, poor bike
On the upside at least your still alive and by the sounds of it helmet saved your noggin.0 -
Good to here that the helmet did what it was meant to.
take it easy."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Bad luck mate. Pleased your still in one piece, just. Hope your time off the bike goes quickly and you have no lasting damage to yourself. Pity about the bike as well, looks well knackered.I'll raise my glass to a full recovery for yourself and hope the driver gets his just desserts from your lawyers and the courts.0

Nice frame!
Mates got all his broken frames mounted on the wall.
Plus a blank space for the one that got nicked!0 -
Sorry to hear about your accident. As long as you are in "one piece", the rest is secondary.

I think the NHS quip is a little unfair, one assumes they picked you up, fixed your bent bits and are rehab'ing you? No gripes then.
Glad you're OK...good luck with the legals, don't hold your breath...but go in hard!
It's just a hill. Get over it.0 -

Agreed - it was a bit of a flippant and unfair remark. I must admit that the care from the doctors, nurses, physios, occupational therapy and others was excellent. Especially as I was informed that my language in the Casualty Dept. was a bit colourful as the morphine started to wear off.0 -
