Does anyone know about the feasibiliy and advisability of putting stunt pegs on an old hardtail mtb (stumpjumper) in order to carry a passenger occasionally for short distances.

makes you look silly unless you are ten, but convenient, eh you need a bolt through axle no qrhttp://ChristoGallagher.co.uk

would a mtb axle be strong enough?0

first look at your dropouts will a peg actually fit?
i have a feeling that there will not be room."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

you may be able to bodge on some of those 80's standers/platforms, waste of a stumpy though and you probably couldn't make them fit0

thanks for the advice. Sounds like its not really possible. Maybe I'll have to get something brazed on!0

why bother?
bike is designed to carry one person.0 -
So that, with a slight modification, it can carry two people. What a strange question.0

How about a length of rope and a skate board. Then you can tow your mate0

Any reason I couldn't do this with a single speed or fixed gear bike using a bmx axle? BMX axles might not be long enough for a deraileur spaced fork but presumably fixies (if they're not conversions) use narrowing spacing between the dropouts don't they?0

It is illegal though to carry a passenger on your bike!0 -

Well yes, it is illegal. But it's also illegal to ride after dark without pedal and fixed reflectors and british standard bicycle lights. Who if anyone does that. I wouldn't be going far, just nipping short distances down quiet streets occasionally.0

well BMX axles come in different diameters.
and a 10mm one is no different to an MTB one other than length.
Like i said above it depends on what your drop outs are like."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
