1. Jam sandwich and good coffee - breakfast of champions!

2. Double punctures are a bugger. Repair kits are the business.

3. If turning your bike upside down when removing wheels to fix the afore mentioned punctures, make sure your bottles are closed - PSP22 gets remarkably sticky.

4. Freshly laid tarmac is like riding on air after miles of country roads covered in cow shite.

5. Although not quite an armchair, my new Specialized Toupe is definitely better than my previous torture device.

6. The lung and leg busting hill at the 40km mark did not seem quite so bad today.

7. The new Foo Fighters album is good riding music.

  • Sounds like some pretty good points. I especially like 'The Pretender' from the new album, the only problem being, it is a song that has to be played as loud as the iPod can take it!

And yeah, I was surprised how sticky psp22 gets...
  • Aye. 'The Pretender' is a definite hill climbing song. However, singing / shouting along seriously diminishes you lung capacity and attracts some very odd looks. music-smiley-546.gif

    The Foo fighters!

Dave Grohl was a good Drummer but Taylor Hawkins!!!

Exactly what a Drummer should be. Brilliant techically, but a great showman as well. So good that Alanis Morrisette chose him to be her touring drummer, when normally backing drummers are anonymous to keep the spotlight on the star.

    ......er...I'm rambling now aren't I

my observations are as I read this cos I've knacked my shoulder and can't ride, that I rather enjoy cycling and am very pissed off.

I observed a tatty 'gentlemans magazine' by the side of the road. In a bizarre and rare show of maturity I left it where it was and continued climbing the hill.

I'd not seen one for ages. Good to know that the Municipal Al-Fresco Porn Distributors are still doing the rounds...

Do Specialized really make a Toupe?

I hope so, because I'm getting on a bit and everything else in their body geometry range fits me like a glove.

Mind you, who wants hairy hands?
