Reba shock lockout issue

I have noticed that the lockout stopped working; I have readjusted the floodgate thinking that might be it, but no luck. I have set it to the maximum ‘lockout’ and it’s still not working, it compresses if no ‘lockout’ was applied. Is this maintenance issue or maybe something more serious?

Can any one help me with this? I am up for doing it myself if I can. I am currently in one year into my two years warranty on the shock.

Any info would be much appreciated it.[/img]

you do mean FORK dont you.

you could have quite simply blown it.

    has it been serviced?

    get it looked at.

Oh and has the bike been stored on its side or upside down recently?

Its not an issue generally. However if the bike is stored upside down, the oil can collect above the damper. In the instructions it tells you hopw to remedy this.
  • Sorry, it’s a Reba SL fork 2006 with manual lockout.

It hasn’t been serviced from new (1 year); it’s not stored upside down either only for occasional inner tube change or gear service. I did perform the procedure in the manual and it made no difference.

If I have blown it (what do you mean by blown?), does it mean I need a new damper unit or is it just a case of changing some ‘o’ rings?

I think I will have a go at servicing it first: - new oil, new seals. I guess if this doesn’t help it need to go the shop.

I will let you know the resolution , but if anyone else has any other ideas...........

    1 hour later........................................

Took out the motion controller and a little plastic blade valve at the bottom broken off from the main metal shaft.
Nice, now I need a new one.

You really shouldnt take apart shocks if you arent sure what your doing :P You should really take it into a shop and let them do a full service on them for you.
