Which derailleur to use?

Hi - bit of a bike novice so here goes...... I have a 10 speed mountain bike with Shimano TY15 derailleur fitted but needs replacing. A friend has a spare Shimano TY22 which came from a 7 gear bike I think. Could anyone tell me if I could use this on my bike please. Many thanx.

Will i have to alter the chain length? I notice that TY15 has shorter bracket and medium cage. The TY22 has longer bracket and shorter cage so does that sort of equal it all out so the chain should be ok?

It will work fine. As long as the frame fitting is the same, no probs.
