Hi guys me again
im just wondering... i know fox shocks are really good but whats up with the x-fusion shock on the fsr comp, are they any good?
I was looking around and the fox shock is about 200.00 on the trek 5.5 and the x-fusion is about 40.00 - 50.00 quid, but thats based on a basic model.
anybody got any experince on this matter
fox rp2 or the x-fusion specialized tuned shock

the x-fusion on the fsr I`ve seen advertised nearer 150 quid. I`m sure its no way as good as a Fox shock - but `m happy with the performance on my bike so far.0

Nice bike im tide up between the comp 2008 version and the trek fuel ex5.5
I heard on some site that the shock needs reg maint. and oiling is this true?
apart from that, you know how much your bike weighs? as trek is about 31lbs i think. so it might come down to weight i think/0 -
I`ve only had the bike a few weeks so cant comment. I like the look of the trek, but reviews in MBR/WMTB classed it as more 'race-orientated' geometry/ride wise.
I`ve weighed my bike at c. 31.25lb - the comp is under 30lbs IIRC0 -
X fusion is a good budget shock, but not to the standard of a Fox.0

I've had my XC Comp for a few months now.
Probably done around 500 miles off road mostly in very muddy conditions and other than adding a little pressure once and getting the settings as I wanted, the only attention the shock has seen is the jet wash.
If I were to upgrade it, I'd look at the Fox with 'Pro-pedal'. In all honesty, I can't see that happenening until the X Fusion is no more.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

I had an ancient Fox Float R on my last bike, the X Fusion kicks its arse in all departments, I'm very content so far after 5 weeks, hammering around trails every weekend. I've wiped off mud and put some lube on the body after every ride, nothing else, 30 second job.
Really pleased with the whole bike to be honest, lightweight for the price and lots of areas you can shave off lots more if you fancy. I got mine for £750, stuck on a tubeless kit (free with MBUK subscription), worked perfectly with the revolution tyres. Stuck on a slightly shorter Ritchey Pro stem which I had lying around. Swapped the discs to £81 Juicy 3's from merlin (the old Sole sell for about £60 second hand on ebay anyway!).
Plan on sticking some Rebas on the front and eventually swapping the wheels for some better ones. Should end up a good 3-4lb lighter and after selling old bits I'll have only just tipped £1k.0 -
ive got x fusion on the front and back of my bike and think they are spot on, light, well damped and the adjustments actually work.
the fork is particuarly nice and if the info i have heard is correct, spesh's own future shocks are made by x fusion factories anyway.
if a company like spesh who have a massive brand and have a reputation to protect deem the shock good enough for their bike, then you shouldnt have any problems.0 -
right here's how it goes on the whole x-fusion thingy.
x-fusion are basically x fox. you see a while back fox had a wee break up and the people who left fox went with fusion. in the us and canada they are actually a big company.
i can't comment on any other company but as far as them being on the fsr's they are custom valved to specialized exact requirements. and as far as reliability they have been far more reliable than the fox shock. fact.
yes the fox is a better shock but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the fuxion's as they are petty much bomb proof. what more could you ask for a basic rear shock.internet (in ter net), secret sanctuary of idiots and nutters.0
