Hey Guys

MTB'er needing some help with a road bike size, well its a hybrid really but thought best to ask here.
I'm looking at buying this Bianchi Hybrid bike for the daily commute and weekend rides with the misses

http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=70463

I currently ride a medium Specialised Enduro so the frame is about 17". From this I'm guessing I need a 48cm frame. I'm I right?
I'm 5'8" and have an inside leg of 30/31" if that helps.

Cheers for your help!

  • well granty boi. nice name, (same as me) lol. well i'm 5ft 7 and a half (dont forget the half) and i ride a cannondale system six liquigas 54cm, everyone says go and have a shot of the bikes but i only got major discomfort on a 56cm after 40 miles, which unless the shop is huge your not going to be able to do, but explain that your a newbie when you go and and they should help you. i'd say 54cm for you mate.. oh depends on make as well but generally 54cm for me.

    cheers buddy.

They also have the 53cm frame in stock so I may get that size instead. I'll order over the phone rather than through the website so I can get their advice as well.

I'd say the 53cm would be about right, but I'd strongly recommend you try it for size first if possible rather than buy over the phone - you don't want to be too stretched out on the bike as it could give you back problems.
  • On traditional geometry you are likely to be a 52cm or so.

That would be a centre to top on a horizontal top tube.

Check out the Bianchi website and see which bike has closest to that. It me read as effective seat tube length.
