Strange things are afoot at the Tower

I was riding to work over Tower Bridge yesterday when about 50 metres in front of me I saw a cyclist topple off his bike, get up, then go to the side of the road to sort out the problem.
Then at the exact same spot where his mishap had taken place, my chain suddenly came off and I had to dismount and go to the side of the road as well. Both our chains had come off in exatly the same spot!
I found this really weird... too weird to be a coincidence and I am now convinced that one of the ghosts at the nearby Tower of London has some kind of vendetta against cyclists... or chains.
