specialised fork bounce

I have a Tarmac Pro with carbon frame and forks. It is fitted with Veloce brake (skeleton) and prolite carbon wheels with an alloy braking surface. When doing steep decents using front and back brakes together the front forks seem to bounce forwards and backwards.

Any views on how top cure this?

Have you checked the headset to see if it is properly adjusted?

you can often dial this out with different brake blocks.

Some forks are prone to this, especially CX forks

Is it not just the natural flex in the forks?
  • Possibly headset. I had this on my Roubaix. Had removed a spacer and it was tightening itself onto the fork. This was only about a 1mm of the fork showing but was enough to cause the problem. To me it felt like it was snatching/ juddering when I used the brake.

Yes - no movement in the headset
