B17

My wife works near a city health food store and often goes for a browse at lunchtime and comes home with some weird products. The other day she came home with a jar of Apricot Kernel Butter which in the small print says 'don't eat more than 20g per day' and 'contains B17'.
I'd never heard of B17 and thought B12 was the height of it. But a quick google shows this to be a strong anti cancer agent. Apricot kernels also contain cyanide :!: Apparently cyanide is present in lots of fruit pips like apples and also has anti cancer properties (as well as a few other side effects).
The advice is to take a little a day. The Hunza people who eat loads of apricots have a very low incidence of cancer compared to others.
It doesn't taste too bad actually.

No real point to this post - just thought it might be useful info to someone somewhere :?:

The cyanide kills you- so the cancer cells have nothing to thrive on- thus cyanide prevents cancer- just a shame you are dead anyway

Great documentary film featuring a B17 (and I don't mean an old-timer's style saddle).

Eat fruits that are high in Potassium, supposed to help regulate blood pressure.

As for B17, can you imagine the size of the multi-vitamin pill that included 100% of your RDA of ALL these wonderful minerals and vitamins?? It would have to be sodding enormous!

What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!

There hardly seems to be a day go by when a new wonderfood is not announced. We should spend all ours days consuming them (especially red wine and chocolate) and forget about the exercise. It only releases free radicals anyway.

How is it that the B vitamins seem to go from B6 to B12 then B17? Does B7 exist? Or does the discoverer just pick their favourite number?
  • I thought this was a postcode thread. I live in B14.

Not "Footballers" or "Sandringhams" (use Google if still in the dark), then?

  • David - I'll see your signature and raise you Mornington Crescent!

As for vitamins - Eat Well. Keep Fit. Still die.

Just a bit of nonsense I came up with after aimlessly bashing away at the keyboard. Speaking of which, piano accompaniment will be provided by Colin Sell.....
