I got a turbo trainer a couple of days ago, had a couple of spins on it so far and its good.

I have a Cat eye wireless computer that reads from the front wheel, but obviously on the trainer my front wheel is still.

Can I switch the sensor on to the rear? just wondered if there was any reason why I cant before I go and try it.

Thanks

Nick

No reason not to try it and see what happens. If the range is too far you can buy a Cateye Astrale (rear wheel + cadence) for about £20 on eBay.

Personally I'd plump for the Astrale in any event. This is exactly the set up that I have got on my bike that is affixed to my turbo trainer (Kurt Kinetic - wonderful thing). I like the cadence read out on it, and the unit itself is brilliant - your speed is always displayed with the other options being secondary.

I suspect if you try and move the sensor to the rear you will find that you don't have adequate cable length.

What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!
  • I have a Cateye Strada wireless at the moment, it does pick up from really far away, I had it in my pocket once while I pushed my bike through a town centre and it was still reading, think it will be fine, thanks.

 Should have read your original post more carefully

  • Ok so I tried it today and gutted, its a few inches out of range and I really dont want to move my display, oh well.

    I'll keep going without it.

Can you get a rear sensor computer with cadence that is wireless?

Or is it the problem with signal strength?
