hi all, been riding bout a year on a carrera fury and love it love it.tho i dont have much to compare to.ive ridden the woods of longleat forest a lot over the last year and after many spills n thrills i have a few quesssies to throw around.here goes, tyre pressures.i ve had my continentals pumped to the max all the time but ive came to wonder is this right thing to do.would i have better traction if i adjusted regularly to suit terrain.longleat is generally quite rocky and doesnt take much rain to churn it up.which is nice but i find i slide around quite easily.any ideas, next thing is fork travel.fury has rokshox tora.adjustable to bout 150mm.again i had them wound quite high but not sure if correct thing to do.i m still finding my feet while having the most unbeleivable fun.any tips n trix on set up would be warmly appreciated.cheers lads n lasses

what do you normaly have your tyre pressure on? if you are going in wet mud or over rocky sections let it down a little you will get more grip (more surface area been covered), if it is really bumpy put your forks quite high to soak up the bumps and put it on low if you are just riding around the street, also if going downhill put your seat right down and put your weight near the back to get more traction and raise it high if you are just riding street or flat trails.
    hope this helps 8)

drop them down to about 40-45 psi for on the trails

The fork can be adjusted to 130mm. The frame works best at 110mm, but experiment for different riding conditions (same with tyre pressures).

    Nobody use capitals anymore?! ;-)

I ride trails at 30-35PSI, clucking hard work but its easier on the lower back/crack which has been jipping me for as long as i can remember.
  • Eeeek!

Nothing worse than a jippy crack!

    The mind boggles!

40 psi here.....but I'm rather large. I find this gives me the best trade off between traction and durability.

I go for about 40ish and I've not noticed too many problems, I just don't want to get a pinch flat. being at 40 is a big difference to the 70 on my bmx!

  • alreet lads and lasses, firstly thanx v much for all your replies.i cant tell you how much theyve helped.i went up the woods tonite like a man with the hounds of satan on his heels.i tried all the things u lot suggested and u kno what. i had the ride of my life,it was like a new bike.i dropped the forks, lowered tyre pressure, adjusted seat and bars and bugger me if i didnt fly.AND,AND,i only went and did my first bleedin bunny hops,i was a howlin and a bouncing al over the god damn place.and u kno what, its all down to you lot.the ultimate test for me was a go at a particular trail which has become something of a nemesis for me.always wipe, slide and ultimatleysplat everytime.i only went and nailed the f***er.roll on the weekend.toon
