Still being a new commer to the sport, I am looking around at which items of clothing to buy. What does everyone else reccomend from their own experience.

What kind of riding?
Bike:
Mudguards (Crud catcher for the front, your choice for the back), wet chain lube, a good set of cleaning brushes, decent cleaning products, GT85 for cables.
You:
Waterproof or windproof jacket, base layer, jersey, long trousers or tights, full fingered gloves.
It's quite difficult really, need a bit more info.
For example, road/commuting, I'd say get as much reflective or hi viz stuff as you can, off road, not so much of a problem.Cycle tracks will abound in Utopia. ~H.G. Wells

A thin beanie to wear under your helmet, leg or knee warmers, plus waterproof Sealskiz mid light socks are also useful.
Its more a case of making sure your extremities are protected. If ind I soon get warm enough, with just a base layer and waterproof/windproof jacket,on my torso.2006 Giant XTC

I was aiming the question more at myself. Its just that after looking at the the gear on sale, I was just trying to see which items of clothing were probably best to get first. Also the main riding is 99% Cross Country.0

Take a look at the DHB clothing in at www.wiggle.co.uk
The DHB tribe is meant to be a good winter jersey and is on offer and you could also pick up some 3 /4 length shorts or tights which will keep your knees warm.
For jackets Altura are good if you are on a budget.2006 Giant XTC

Just bought some DHB clothing here,
A few jerseys and a couple of pairs of full length bib tights.
Seems like good quality kit, certainly no complaints here.
Dirt cheap prices on Wiggle at the moment too.
Funnily enough, bought an Altura night vision jacket too, same impression as above.
£58 not a bad price.Cycle tracks will abound in Utopia. ~H.G. Wells

Do you have an ALdi store near you. They had their winter bike stuff sale last week. You may still be able to pickup some stuff.Their long trousers are excellent with double front layers on stomach and thighs to keep you dry and warm and they have proper padded bum.Get some waterproof overshoes they will keep your feet dry amd warm and fully waterproof gloves-ski ones are good for bikes also.0
