Hi All.
If looked after properly how does carbon wear compared to aluminium.
I know aluminium fatigues after approx 5 years.
Also, does carbon have a weight restriction on it.
I am a 14 stone rider (musclular) and worried that if i buy a new carbon Scott, that my weight will affect it.
Cheers

Check the warranty with the dealer. Fatigue doesnt depend on time, but usage which complicates things!

To the best of my knowledge, carbon fibre composite has no fatigue issues. I have a Scott CR1 road bike which is lighter built than a mountain bike but still copes fine with my 100kgs and has done for 2 and a half years so far.

I did about 4 month's research before buying my Scott Scale 10 (I assume you're thinking of the CR1 frame?) and found nothing bad to say in reviews apart from the rear hanger in earlier models not being replacable - this was changed and any new models have replacable hangers.

Not a long term test personnaly so far (about 3 months) but it has been bashed around quite a bit; a few failed jumps etc and still going strong. Strangely, although the bike feels as if there is nothing there when you lift it, the whole thing feels exceptionally solid and unbreakable (ha ha famous last words!!!).

They warrant up to mak weight of 110Kg and for 5 years.

    edit - I'm just under 80Kg (12.5 stone)
