Hope i've found the problem, one of the chainstay pivots was undone by about 4 turns, it can't of been far off falling out!
Also removed shock and checked and refitted.
Will run a proper check tomorrow on a ride. Fingers crossed.

Well, that loose pivot was not the answer!
Just got back from a ride and the shock is knocking as soon as it starts the return stoke after compressing.
Anybody else has problems with these new shocks from Specialized?
