Sorry to return to the old which fork debate but......

I'm about to upgrade the manitou's that came on my XTC sx and i'm seriously torn between reba's and revelations (both air versions) I'm 14st and 6'2 and the frame is a large.
i ride very hard and powerfully but only xcountry (no jumps or silly drops etc) mainly on rough rocky terrain.
Weight is important (hence air rather than coil) but the difference between to two forks is only about 1/4 lb i believe. and i'll be keeping QR hubs.

Any suggestions?
is the reba 'tough' enough?
is the extra travel of the revelations going to affect frame warranty & handling?

cheers, Adam

No point fitting a Rev, the frame is designed around 100mm of travel - I'd stick with a Reba, it will be fine.

    they are both tough enough.

and i would keep the lengths close to the original. re warrenty talk to the supplier.

personally the rebas are better suited to the frame.

  • I have Rebas on my XTC SX.They are a huge improvement over the Manitou Splice.

  • I have had the bike with manitou's for 1 year exactly now, i use the bike every day with big rides at weekends, i have had to replace entire shimano xt drivetrain at least once (3 raceface bottom brackets and five chain rings!) but the manitou's haven't missed a beat- they have been really smooth and active no matter what is thrown at them!!

I realise this is not the norm' for cheap manitou forks, i've just been lucky! only looking to replace as they are just beging to stiffen up and they're not worth sevicing.
  • My Manitous were reliable, but the performance of the Rebas is in a diferent league. They feel noticeably stiffer which gives more confident steering, much more adjustable, much more plush and much more control, and confidence inspiring, when steering.

    A pound lighter too. :D

Ive got Reba SL's (with poploc) fitted on my XTC SX. Great improvement and the ride feels so much better.

    Great set of forks!
