Sealskinzs - bizzare shape

After reading the thread on winter socks i decided to get some Sealskinz (mid thermal) socks.
What the hell kind of freakish club footed yeti are they meant to fit. they wouldn't even fit in my mtb shoes, let alone my road shoes (and yes they are the right size). the shape is about as anatomicaly correct as a Picasso from his cubist period. they're going straight back.
is it worth getting the lighter weight ones - do they fit better or are they also just a big waterproof tube that bears little resemblence to the shape of a foot? failing that how do the goretex ones fit in a road shoe?

come on lets have some pics. bet they will be the same as mine from X years ago.
they reminded me of my wet suit socks."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I would but i've already stuck them in the post. suffice to say they looked like the kind of sock you would expect to find presents in on christmas morningpm0 -
I had some of the original Sealskinz from ages ago and they were a pretty poor fitting shape, I got some new mid-light ones a couple of weeks ago and they look a bit better but not exactly snug fitting. Probably going to get a pair of the ultra-light ones to but want to see them IRL first.0

I have some and yes you're right they are a bit weird aren't they. :?
But when it comes to keeping your feet warm there are few socks as good.0 -

Yes they are, exactly like that, and I swear that they would walk off by themselves if they could! lol0

yep you can make them stand on their own
must have bought them about 10 years ago. only used them a couple of times."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

No, those are far too foot shaped.
i've ordered the ultra light ones now, i'll let you know if there any better or still modelled on the elephant manpm0 -
The mid weight sealskinz are cut very strange the foot section is wide and short.
The lightweight version are cut more like ordinary socks, but they still fit a bit strange, I think its something to do with the inelasticity of the membrane layer, shaping the sock.0 -
I use some of these. They feel awful when you put them on, but in cycling shoes they suddenly feel OK. I think the angle of foot on pedal is slightly different to standing. But I think they are great and they keep my feet dry and warm.
Would buy them again.
They feel awful in walking boots though.
