Most zip files on the torrents usually contain passwords that you need.
  • I use Demonoid for cycling related torrents, but they've been having a fe problems of late  . Is there anywhere else out there for cycling specific stuff?

You can do what you like with them. As with any other file on your PC.

Without meaning to sound condescending, I think you'd benefit greatly from doing some reading and research into the basics of how computers work and what they do.

As far as torrents go...demonoid, mininova for music, revolutiontt, dididave for anything else ...but you will have to sign up to 3 of them as they are private trackers, but its free and very fast downloads indeed
  • There is a download application called Ares which alot of my friends use. They rate it pretty highly. I just use Limewire and have never had any problems with it apart from my newly introduced download limit :(
  • Interesting fact: You can download limewire pro (the paid version) from the free version :)

I think P2P sharing programs are going to vanish soon, because the copyright enforcers (RIAA) are launching massive lawsuits against most of them. When i say massive, i mean $150,000 for every song downloaded. Ouch. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060806-7431.html

Edonkey2000 has gone, thanks to a similar lawsuit, and if you try to access its webpage you now get a stern warning and it records your IP address.

Just throwing out random facts here, im not actually making a point or anything. :)

how do you download the pro version for free :?:
  • You load the free version, and search for 'limewire pro'. Then download one that looks genuine (Look at the filesize, if its something low like 500kb then its a virus  )

They may have fixed it now, but i know it used to work.

Limewire is ok if ur just lookin for single songs etc but to be honest ur much better off stickin with torrents cause u usually get a much better bitrate on the music.

personnaly i would avoid the likes of limewire/kazza/ares like the plague, there content isnt checked for viruses/adware/malware etc and you cant check to see if what your downloading is genuine, your downloading direct from someones elses pc (i could put something on limewire etc and label it something completley different and you wouldnd know til the download finished), torrents are much safer to download and you get good quality stuff, and you have the benefit of reading users comments to see if its genuine of if there is a problem with it, in which case it get a ''nuked'' warning in the label to give you a heads up.

    that's all fair, but
torrents are much safer to download
Is through fluke more than anything else. There is no checking of torrent files for malware or viruses.
Relying on the comments system is a little flawed because any well-written piece of malicious software will not tell you where it came from.
  • haha mistercrabb I just went to edonkey2000 just for a laugh and saw the message. Not really appropriate for them to log your address like that as I haven't actually done anything wrong.

It's true. Morpheus contains no viruses or anything else malicious.
The network that Morpheus connects to does, however, and there is nothing built into morpheus to stop you downloading it.
In the same way, there is no child porn in Internet Explorer. But there is child porn on the network it connects to, and there is nothing built into Internet Explorer to stop you seeing it.

No real problem with it, either, though. Is there?
  • Nope, Don't have a problem with it at all just food for thought, everything about us is under surveillance and scrutiny these days thats all. It's kind of the same as me taking a picture of everyone who looks at me whilst walking down the street. It's not illegal or life threatening or anything.. Just seems a little bit strange.

No, it's more like making a note of where everyone you saw while walking down the street was when you saw them.

i might give morpheus another go and see what happens..
also i put the music in to itunes to put on my ipod..after ive played the song about 3times it says something about it not being located :? i tryed to locate it but it wouldnt let me..
were abouts am i ment to locate it or do you know anything about this :?:
  • Is this a message on the ipod? or itunes?
If its itunes, morpheus (if thats what you used to download) might have just moved the file or even deleted it. Read the help files and do a virus check, just to be sure.

I personally dont use p2p file sharers anymore, partly because of the virus risk.
I currently use mp3fiesta.com , you have to pay, but its cheap and has high quality, virus free songs.

Are you sure the file finished downloading?

yep its in the downloaded file complete then i right click add to itunes then that happens :? i have tryed to locate it but nothing !
  • Just a point towards the legit side of things:

    1. amazon.com does legit DRM free mp3 downloads
    2. itunes does AAC DRM poisoned downloads but you can remove the DRM with MyFairTunes at http://www.hymn-project.org/download.php ;)

I only use legit stuff as I only listen to strange unpopular music that doesn't appear on popular p2p networks.[/list]
  • @chrisjssmith:
Yah, i wanted to use legit downloads in the beginning but then i realised that the songs had drm. Im not paying for a song, only to find that theres some stupid code stopping it from copying or playing on my mp3 player.
I looked at amazon, but i seem to remember them being expensive or something...

    Meh.

    @jacktheoc:
The exclamation mark is because there is an error playing the file (ie, itunes cant find it).
Download the song again, copy it from wherever it is to a seperate folder in the my music folder. Then you know exactly where it is. Now add it (the copy in the my music folder) to itunes. Try it. If the error comes up again, check to see it the file is still where you copied it to. If its vanished, something is wrong. :D

Edit: mp3fiesta.com sells songs at approx 10 cents (5p) each, depending on how popular it is. All songs are high quality.

You can simply copy the songs to wherever you want (any mp3 capable device), no fuss.

Be warned that its still illegal.

forgot to ask will it be ok if i just make another file in my music and put them all in there and then drag and drop from their :?
  • Should do. Tbh it doesnt really matter where the songs are. Its just best to keep them in the same place so they dont get deleted accidently.

    Are your songs working now?
