steerer tube extension

if I wantted to extend the steere tube on a Aheadset equipped bike, can I use eg the BBB extender and if so, how does it work?

    looks like a wedge bolt like a quill stem uses. So I guess suitablility will depend upon what your steerer is made of.

    Is that what you meant?

    I wouldn't use one on a carbon steerer but as the principle is basically the same as a quill type expander bolt, as cannonfodder says,it should be OK in an ally steerer.
    Flipping your existing stem over will give you added height without added weight though.
