Assos Clothing Sizing?

As with all these things I guess this has been asked before, but I'm in the market for some new gear and I've managed to convince myself that buying Assos will make me ride faster and further (obvious don't you think?)

Problem is there is nowhere near me that stocks it so I'm going to have to go mail order but find it a real pain in the jaxsie to have to return stuff if the sizing is wrong. I've read that Assos comes up tight so I need some help.

I'm 6'1" with 40" chest, 33" waist and longish arms (sounds like a lonely hearts ad), so what do you think friends; L or XL? What are your experiences with the sizes of shorts & jerseys

Thanks,
Cheeky

p.s. Must have GSOH....................sorry wrong post!

Sounds like a large. It comes up small but above all, it is designed to be worn tight. It should not be loose fitting, even a winter jacket should be snug tight. Of course, you need to be able to move and breath underneath but too many make the mistake of buying Assos too large...

Hi Cheeky (it's been a while since I typed a reply starting like that),

    I'm 6'2", 34" waist, 40" chest, blue eyes, Capricorn.................doooh, too much information.

I've got an Assos Air-Block winter jacket in XL - fits like a glove and keeps me toasty warm in all but the coldest conditions.

Just make sure you don't crash while you're wearing it, otherwise it'll last you years.
  • I've got XL for both aessos bib shorts & long tights......I'm 6'2" & 32 " waist; I find L is too tight evrywhere & too short in body...

  • I have bibshorts large. I'm 5'11" 30" waist. They fit me fine, but I think you would need XL.

I`m 6' and 33" waist and XL is what I wear in Assos and so should you! L will be far too tight for you in Assos (or other continentals like Giordana / Nalini etc) although if you buy Rapha then L will be fine.

Thanks Everyone, XL it is. Where did you buy yours from Bronzie & Keith, there isn't anywhere near us in Beds/Herts that retails them is there, other than Phil Corley perhaps?

Thanks for your feedback re Rapha Sylvanus as I was considering their stuff too!

    Cheers all,

    Cheeky
  • I bought mine mail order from Ribble, Live in Sandy, don't know anyone who stocks them locally :(

Go to Phil Corley to try them on for size..................then mail order from Parkers unless you are the lucky holder of a Corley 10% discount card (like me :D).

Shorters also stock them I believe - they have shops in Finchley and Potters Bar (not exactly local, but worth a trip):

    Shorters or Corleys it is!

Unfortunately I can't bring myself to try on and then buy elsewhere, so I'll brace myself for a slightly bigger bill! I run a "specialist shop" (not what you think) and can see potantial "brain pickers" coming a mile off, so I always feel more self conscious when doing the same thing.

Having said all that I've just bought a Airbloc jacket brand new off eBay in a Large for £75 so if it doesn't fit and you fancy bagging a bargin, keep em peeled.

I'll let you know how it goes!!!!!

Just received the Airblock jacket in a large and it fits fine, what I would call snug rather than tight, and it definitely feels more comfortable in a typical riding position than sat in a chair drinking coffee!!

Bought quite a few Assos items from Primera in Bournemouth, they were very helpful with the sizing over the phone

For what its worth I'm 6ft 4, 32 waist and anything less than XL would have serious breathing restriction implications!

On a similar subjust, looking at getting some Assos bib shorts, do they follow the same sizings as the shorts does anyone know?

Sigh, if only I could fit my carcass into assos!!!!! I tried some "TIR" shorts and they were threatening!
Ho hum, off to seek XXXL again!

    Ashley,

I've just ordered some shorts from Parkers in L so I'll let you know how they fit when they arrive.
