Cheap rigid for the heavy

Basically all I want is a single speed fully rigid bike that I can treat as a big BMX.
It doesn't have to be light but it has to be strong, as i'm pretty tall and big built. Good brakes would also be a bonus for that same reason.
I'm on a very tight budget, £250 is an absolute max (much cheaper would be better). I have no real biking knowledge, so building my own isn't really an option.

What about a cheap 26" trials bike? Is the lack of seat (or small seat) an issue?

Maybe a bit impractial, I'll be using it to get fit and go places as well as messing around on, so the trials drive ratio would be a problem as well.
Good suggestion though, more welcome0 -
have a look on ebay there was a dmr drone for £200 on about 2 weeks ago0

DMR do some good deals, especially if you want to look at 24" aswell. Ebay could be a winner if you are patient and know what your looking for.
Have you considered building one?"You're not hardcore until you live hardcore"0
