New car tax bands mean that some cars producing less than 100g/km will be exempt of road tax.

Does this mean other car drivers will try to force them off the road shouting "You shouldn't be on the road, You don't pay any road tax"

  • yup, i can't wait to point this little fact out.
  • You'd have to look very carefully...
there is only one car currently available that exempt from road tax and that's a VW Polo Blue Motion...
but you'd have to look even closer because it must not have air conditioning!

Road Tax is the common or vulgar term for Vehicle Excise Duty. The problem with VED is that most drivers are not familiar with the expression, it doesn't exactly trip off the tongue and it is not, in fact, a more accurate or useful term than Road Tax. Also that sticker in the windscreen is refered to as the Tax Disk, not the VED disk.
This post contains traces of nuts.

The breakdown of my council tax bill shows I pay for highway maintenance. I don't believe it goes towards maintaining or building motorways but then as a cyclist I cannot ride on them anyway.
