Will these bars fit my stem?

Just doing up my dads bike, trying to find bars that will fit the old style quill stem/clamp it has.

It's from the late 80s, but I've been told its either a 25.8mm clamp, or a 26mm clamp (but I don't know whether 26mm is just a round up).

Looking at fitting these bars:- http://www.on-one.co.uk/index.php?modul ... =hbnisnb41

Wanted them ones because they'll match the silver of the stem, aswell as being similar to the classic drop handlebars currently on the bike.

Also, will the bars take current tiagra STIs? I've seen pictures and it seems like theres no where to fix the STIs to, unless STIs are clamp on or something?

Any help appreciated.

You can usually get a pair of 26 mm diameter bars into a 25.8 mm clamp. It may need a bit of force but nothing that will damage them.

STIs are clamp on so these bars will be fine for them.
  • Thanks for that, i'll give it a shot. I was thinking a 0.2mm difference is nothing much.
