I have had my bike about a week now and can't adjust the seat post any higher due to it being marked as the safe level.
I feel that it needs to be higher for me to get the most out of it.

Any ideas on which to get?

  • I got the right sized frame. It seemed the best fit.

It is a Truvativ but without looking at my bike (all locked away now) I'm not too sure.

a bit on the small size acording to oranges webby.

    19" would have been better.

seat post should be a 350mm long one. you may find longer but there are not many.

i think i did advise you to go for the 19"

350mm is just about the max length of seat post you can get. have fun.

  • I know you advised it! I had a good look at the 19 but I was worried about the clearance of my goolies. Was next to nothing.

Oh well! I shall but see!

    Cheers for the help Nick!

Wouldn't they have to dangle about 2 foot down to catch on the top tube on a 17"? :P

I'm 6 foot 6 and have always used the biggest seatpost I can get my hands on, even on my XL size Specialized bikes, 400mm is available from most manufacturers, if the frame is slightly on the small side try and get one with a bit of layback as well.

One of these would help, it may not help your bank though.
  • I'm 6'1" ish, and I bought a 19" Orange P7. The bike is, if anything, a little too large. It's fine for long rides and XC but thrashing around the local woods it feels a bit cumbersome. The Crush isn't exactly an XC bike, and If I were to buy one, I'd probably get a 17" (The Orange website sizings seem to be a bit off).
17" will mean that it's pretty chuckable for the fun stuff.
As for a seatpost, Thomson do the Elite in a 410mm length, various sizes, and straight or with an inch of layback. It's one of the best on the market, weighs very little, tough as hell, and looks pretty good too. I got mine for about £60

They're a bit cheaper at Merlin, £57.50 and an extra £5.75 off that if you spend over £100. They also have a few limited sizes for £44.95.
  • Bonza! Cheers for the help!

Have really enjoyed my time on it so far. Am learning lots already which is cool.

U can buy much longer seat posts than 350mm, i have a 400mm easton ea70 on my bike. If ur not bothered about abit of weight i've even seen 450mm posts on CRC.
