Oh, and just look at the sort of eBay feedback DH leaves for others, just a few examples:* LYING SCUM, AVOID AT ALL COSTS, DOESNT PAY + LEAVES NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. NML SFB
* THIS GUY IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED, SUCH A SHAME COS WE HAVE WRECKED YOUR RATING
* NOT TO BE TRUSTED, LYING FILTH. DONT DEAL WITH HIM UNLESS U WANT RIPPING OFF
* LYING SCUM, DO NOT TRUST THIS SCAMMER AS FAR AS YOU COULD THROW HIM (NOT FAR)
* FUNNY THING IS THIS DESTROYS YOUR RATING. YOURS DONT MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Such nice people to do business with!!!!!
Well Dave Hinde won't be able to do stuff like that now, ebay are changing their rules.Online auction site eBay has said it plans to overhaul its feedback system and will ban sellers from leaving negative comments about buyers.

Yes I had mixed feelings about the ebay feedback changes, but that will certainly stop Hinde's nasty game!!!0

What nice folk cyclists must be! Try leaving stuff like that about some of the PTW boys and you'd be best advised to avoid dark alleys. Seems right to me.d.j.

Ho Hum, just semi-risked* my own feedback telling the world about my experiences with this idiot.
At his prices I was expecting a Ryanair level of customer service, but not the total shag-around I've had to put up with. I suspect the pillock with half-a-brain-cell that runs his mail order operation can only cope with single item orders, hence the 99% happy camper rating he has managed to aquire.
I just thank God that I have a degree of protection via eBay for the £380 of mine I paid for goods that never arrived.
on edit:
Well, got the £380 Dave Hinde SRE stole from me back, but 5 strikes against my feedback rating. DH SRE accusing me of 'lies', sending 'abuse', 'giving dodgy delivery details' , being a 'slow payer' and 'trying to get free stuff'. All not true, and the slower payer bit disproveable through ebays own invoice system (invoiced and paid the same day!)
The funny thing is that James at Hindes was quick to NF me after I told the world what I thought about the unprofessional service I had experienced, but didn't bother to lodge a defence against my PayPal disput.
It's not over yet. There will be letters on Solicitors headed note paper. But gentle readers, one of the NF comments I put was a suggestion to Google this topic. So keep 'em coming.0 -
I can confirm that this guy James at Dave Hinde is worth completely avoiding, he has got to be the worst person that I have ever bought from, or dealt with... actually, in any situation I can think of (and i used to teach excluded kids).
I am about to start an Ebay dispute, mainly on principle. But I'm not sure whether to leave negative feedback as I think my refund will take some time if i do. All I can say is that I paid for the item, it wasn't as described, he said to send it back, which I did and I waited for the promised refund. Apparently he didn't get my emails through paypal requesting money (4 requests) but that's hard to believe given his already very rude and inaccurate description to me of what he has and hasn't said. He also tends to ignore hotmail emails and only reply to those through the item description. What I might do is just add my bad experiences to forums etc and spread the word.
There are other things to do, like signing them up for various spam newsletters etc (like the ASA e-newsletter, eh?), but i guess that's illegal - hmm, anyone?Spice it up for only £1.890 -
I assume folk have involved Trading Standards? They can be laborious and slow but they are also IME tenacious. They just keep on amassing evidence. Apart from anything else I rather assume that DH in breach of distance selling regs - and they rest in LEGISLATION AFAIK. And legislation enforcement of which is vested in Trading Standards Departments.d.j.

My understanding of distance selling regulations are that goods must be supplied within 21 of payment; I threw my toys out of the pram after 10 (and an additonal 7 days previous to that from order due to DH arsing about with a slow invoice). Ergo I doubt Trading Standards would be interested.
I am very aware of the Added Value eBay afforded me with this problem. Had I purchased via the traditional mail order route (and DH still has double page spreads in Cycling Weekly) then I would have been on my own. A battle if I had paid using a credit card, and only a slim chance to recover via the small claims court (a real fag and not worth it for £380).0 -

Yes I tried to involve trading standards in my dispute with DH/No1 Bike Bits - a complete waste of time. In fact "James" laughed when I told him if he continued to refuse to send me either the goods I'd paid for or a refund I'd have to contact trading standards because he said they were completely powerless - and it's the one thing he telling the truth about. In the end I got my money back through a successful ebay fraud claim. However despite finding in my favour ebay refused to remove their feedback that I was "lying scum" !

Just to add my situation was as Tabasaco Kid's - paid for item - when it eventually arrived after two supposedly lost parcels it wasn't as ordered. They were quite apologetic and said send it back - at my expense though - which I did. After that I didn't get a refund or a replacement.

Clearly only solution is a stiff talking to with an iron bar.d.j.

Any regular of this site who has bought anything from DH in recent months get very little/no sympathy from me when it all goes belly-up - its been well documented over a long period of time just how crap and abusive they really are. Maybe try stamping mug on your forehead - its the only thing I can think of that will make it any easier for them to fleece you!!!
Its the non-regulars and the beginners I feel sympathy for!!!0 -
Mine was over a year ago now - I actually knew the reputation of Dave Hinde but I didn't know No1bikebits was the same company. I can't believe they are still trading given the bad press they get - but I suppose everyone assumes that they wont be the one to get ripped off.

I had used them twice before without a problem. Okay, so in one instance the product was junk (a pair of Vuelta wheels) but I'd paid cheap and got cheap.
To be honest I'd taken the badmouthing with a large spoon of salt, as I do most things that are posted here. I just hope a few potential mugs read this topic before placing an order and change their minds.0 -
I assume that forthcoming ebay changes will prevent some of the abuse of the F'back process as described above?

Sellers will no longer be able to leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyers."d.j.

Call me cynical but I reckon the changes not to leave feedback is more to do with a fear of being sued for libel and defamatory statements being allowed to remain on their website rather than a concern to improve the 'buying-selling, ebay experience'0 -
It would seem CW maybe reading the forums....I bought a copy recently and there was no David Hinde double page spread inside not even a little bit down the side of a page!!!!
What do you guys reckon?Heaven kicked me out and Hell was too afraid I'd take over!!!
Fighting back since 1975!!
Happy riding

I expect 3 things when buying anything online, good price (but not necessarily the cheapest), efficient service and being treated like a human being in any communication with the vendor either spoken or in e-mails. If I can't get these at the time of the sale then I'll either cancel it or never shop with them again.
The experience of other people's dealings with a company is also an influencing factor on whether I use them or not. I've heard more bad reports than good from Dave HInde customers so I wouldn't take this risk. It's only a year or so ago that Wiggle were getting a slating on this forum for a huge problem they had with credit card fraud. The difference is they sorted the problem pretty quickly and without any nastiness to customers - it's business as usual for them now.
Customer service is the no.1 priority - if you can't offer civility when things go wrong, an apology when you cock up, or a smile, or a quick rememdy then you shouldn't be in business. If you get the opposite of these at the customer end then don't bother using them again and make sure the world knows! I can't stand knowing that companies make money from bad attitude and bad service!www.practicalcycles.com

it seems that they just wait for paypal to find in the buyer's favour and then let them take the money out of their account - just lazy really. i got a refund, but by that time i couldn't leave any ebay feedback. yes, i must be a mug, but that's why i'm keeping this thread alive.Spice it up for only £1.890

oh dear they've got 16 negative feedbacks in the last month - seems that the new ebay rules may be working - what a shame.

BikeBits still leave negative comments by abusing the 'positive' feedback option that's been left to vendors.0

David Hinde as a trading entity has been borderline fraudulent for years. In the coarse of one of our many conversations concerning the Shimano shoes they never had/got lost in the post/hadn't been sent/had been sent but in the wrong size by Fisher etc., the manager I spoke to thought the boast that their car park was full of late reg BMWs would be impressive. Unimaginative is about the best you could say.
On the matter of post I have extensive experience, my t shirt business http://www.weadmire.net uses standard Royal Mail for just about everything we send, 40% of which goes to addresses outside the UK. Last year, Jan to Dec, <.01% (6 in >6000) of our packages failed to arrive for all the reasons this might happen - our foul ups, Royal Mail's foul ups, Royal Mail's overseas partner's foul ups and in one of these cases a customer, just one, who might have been telling porkies. Broadly "lost in the post" is by a significant margin likely to be bollocks, certainly so from the lips of anyone at DH.WeAdmire.net

And your granny is probably 110 years old and smoked 60 a day all her life. It's not about the individual experience, it's about the high rate of bad experiences when you look at the generality. Google will show you this and somehow I don't believe DH is a victim of a hate campaign. On the contrary he is the one who has given regular feedback to ebay customers along the lines of "lying theiving scum" when they say they didn't receive goods (he also blames Royal Mail who only seem to deliver 90% of his orders).
Only looking at the weight of evidence, of course this could all be wrong and he is really an angel
And of course that ASA adjudication against him was probably grossly unfair, yes . . .0
